Hello, fellow Pardesio! Whether you’ve just arrived in Germany or are still in Pakistan, eyeing a future here, you’re probably bombarded with a gazillion terms and systems that feel a little, umm, alien! But don’t worry, Germany’s educational system is not rocket science—I promise! Today, let’s talk about something every desi in Germany should know about: Ausbildung.

What is Ausbildung?

Think of Ausbildung like the German equivalent of a golden key that opens doors to skilled careers—but it’s not just about books and classrooms (nope!). Ausbildung is a combination of on-the-job training and theory classes, making you a skilled professional by the end of it. You’re basically getting paid to learn and to become job-ready at the same time. Sounds perfect, right?

You can choose from more than 300 occupations, from healthcare (nursing, medical assistants) to business, IT, crafts (hello, carpentry!), and even engineering. There’s something for everyone. And when I say everyone, I mean everyone!

Why Should Pakistanis in Germany Consider an Ausbildung?

  1. Job Security: Once you complete an Ausbildung, you’ll have a recognized qualification that is in demand across Germany. Plus, companies love hiring skilled workers they’ve trained themselves.
  2. Earn While You Learn: Forget burning a hole in your wallet! During your Ausbildung, you get paid a monthly stipend ( Ausbildungsvergütung – around €600-€1,200 depending on the field). So you’re learning and earning simultaneously.
  3. Pathway to Residency: If you’re in Pakistan, wondering, “Can I get a visa for this?” YES, you can! The Ausbildung visa is your ticket to Germany. It’s a structured and clear path towards a long-term stay, and after completion, you might even qualify for a residence permit to stay and work in Germany!
  4. Career Flexibility: Whether you’re a fresh graduate, switching careers, or a newcomer to Germany, an Ausbildung is a straightforward entry point into the German job market. Plus, your qualifications will be respected all over Europe. Hello, job offers!
  5. Cultural Immersion: You’ll be working alongside Germans and people from around the world, giving you real insight into German work culture, improving your language skills, and building a network that’ll boost your career. Consider it your fast track to integration!

Applying for an Ausbildung from Pakistan

Good news! If you’re in Pakistan, you can directly apply for an Ausbildung visa. It requires:

  • A contract from a company offering the Ausbildung (yes, you’ll need to search and apply to companies from Pakistan).
  • Proof of German language skills (B1 level or higher).
  • Financial stability proof (sometimes, but you’re getting paid so this is manageable).

If this sounds like a lot to handle, don’t worry! Germany has made the process super straightforward, and there’s loads of support available.

Conclusion

So if you’re considering studying or working in Germany, or you’re already here and want a stable, respected career, Ausbildung could be your perfect match. It’s practical, it’s paid, and it sets you up for long-term success in a country that loves skilled workers.

    1. If you are already in Germany, then there is no age limit. But if you are applying from abroad e.g. Pakistan, for visa purpose the age limit is 35 years.
