Shortage occupations in Germany: Skilled workers are lacking in these occupations

The German economy is growing, the industry is high-performing and innovative.
This means that employment is at a record level, and the labor market needs more and more workers. Germany has a lot of work, but also a problem: There are shortage occupations in which skilled workers are lacking.

Germany does not have enough skilled workers. That’s because Germans are having too few children. There is a shortage of young people to meet the demand for skilled workers. Demographic change is leading to a shortage of skilled workers in Germany.

This is particularly evident in the expanding innovative STEM sector (mathematics, information technology, natural sciences, technology).
But there is also a great need for personnel in the health and care sector, because: The German population is not only having few children, it is also getting older.
